About, facts

Jason Ninnis was born in Mid Glamorgan in the South Wales valleys. For most of his childhood he lived in and around a small coal-mining village near Merthyr Tydfil.

His early musical influences came from the household record collection, which was rich in golden oldies and classic number one hits.
Facts are that he did not stop there. He set about consuming many musical genres including Blues, Folk and Soul, Pop, Psychedelia, Progressive and Kraut Rock. In each case seeking out the best artists and immersing himself in their music.

As a creative outlet in his early teens Jason studied guitar; an instrument he strove hard to master. Later he started to use his voice, adapting his own short poems to create songs.
As time went by he concentrated more and more on the art of lyric writing and song construction. Jason has since acquired a wealth of knowledge regarding the vocabulary of music.

At the age of about 19 Jason moved to Cardiff where he was an active participant on the local music scene. Most notably from the time was the formation of the band Liquorice with guitarist Steve Rose, featuring an elfish dreadlocked girl drummer, and a wide eyed acid casualty bass player. In fact, it was unfortunately a short lived project.

Jason is now based in London, where he has written and performed with a variety of local musicians and bands. From 2000 to 2005 he was lead singer and lyric writer for The Great Unknown, featuring Steve Daultrey on guitar, Alex Norton on bass, and Clive Mitchell on drums.

In his latest incarnation as a solo act, he has teamed up with the maverick musician, producer and long term friend David Halling to record his most recent compositions.
